Do I have to wear personal protective equipment (P.P.E)?

We strongly recommend wearing PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) when fogging. It is best to refer to the safety data sheet of the chemical you are using for the best practices guideline.

Is it harmful to breath the fog?

It is recommended that the operator wears a filtered mask while using fogging equipment. When used properly, KN-95 masks or ventilator masks will protect the user from inhaling the atomized vapours produced by foggers.

Will it leave a sticky residue?

We have found that the chemicals we have tested do not leave a sticky residue on surfaces. We have also found that does not remain on surfaces like glass and plexiglass.

Will fogging damage my electronics or fabrics?

When fogging equipment is used properly, it can be used on all surfaces including electronics and fabrics. It is important for the operator to follow the manufacturer’s instructions and recommendations regarding use. Testing on a sample of fabric is always a good idea.

When is it safe to enter a room after fogging?

In most cases, rooms are safe to enter after ten minutes of completion of fogging (eg. Vital Oxide) However, it is always recommended and important to follow the manufacturer’s directions for use.

In the case of Anasphere Plus it is required you do not enter the room after 2 hours of fogging without proper P.P.E.

Is there a proper way to fog?

There are best practices for fogging that maximize efficiency and reduce chemical consumption. FogTech Solutions provides our clients with training and tips to get the most out of your equipment and chemiclas.

How long does the fog have to be on the surface?

In most cases, the atomized chemical will disinfect the sprayed surface in ten minutes. Allow up to ten minutes for the surface to completely dry.

Do I have to wipe everything down after a fogging?

You do not have to wipe surfaces after fogging. You just need to let surfaces air dry for at least ten minutes.

How much solution do I need to adequately fog an area?

32 oz. of Disinfectant

Coverage is 250 square feet if sprayed and 2,000 square feet if applied by an electrostatic sprayer or fogging device.

128 oz. of Disinfectant

Coverage is 1,000 square feet if sprayed and 8,000 square feet if applied by an electrostatic sprayer or fogging device.

Coverage area may vary because of surface type and application methods.

How do I operate the fogging equipment?

Slide the power switch to the “on” position. A fine mist will form. Adjust the control knob for the droplet sizes ranging from coarse droplets, which settle quickly, to fine spray particles which can float a long distance. The control knob also regulates the liquid flow rate.

If possible, apply your application in still air. Otherwise, your chemical may be blown off target. Use an even sweeping motion making certain to cover the entire target area. Do not over-apply. Since a fine mist is difficult to see, it is usually better to calculate spraying time and volume from the liquid flow rate than to rely on visible indications.

When finished spraying, remove and empty tank. Open the control knob and run the unit a few seconds to discharge any liquid remaining in the internal lines. If you have been spraying liquids containing solids or polymers, residue is likely to accumulate. Flush residues from internal lines by running unit with clean water (or the appropriate solvent) briefly.

What do I do if I get the solution in my eyes?

Hold eye open and rinse slowly with water for 15-20 minutes. Remove contact lenses after the first 5 minutes and continue rinsing. Call a poison control center or doctor for treatment advice. Have the product container or label with you when calling a poison control center or doctor or going for treatment.

When should I use Vital Oxide at full strength?

Vital Oxide comes Ready to Use (RTU) as a full-strength EPA hospital disinfectant for non-porous surfaces. Full strength is recommended for first-time use on surfaces. Full strength should also be used in environments with high rates of bacteria, mold, and mildew and in high traffic areas and touch points.

If you are applying Vital Oxide for the first time on a surface to remove mold, mildew, bacteria, viruses, or odors, pre-clean the surface implementing traditional cleaning methods (e.g. using water and soap). Be sure not to use an acidic cleaner like vinegar because this may cause a bad reaction with Vital Oxide. You can also use Vital Oxide as a cleaner. Just spray onto the surface and wipe with a paper towel or rag.
